{right vs left}

over a year ago i found out my spiritual gifts and it was not a surprise that one of them was creativeness. since learning my spiritual gifts i have become more aware of how they are manifested in my life. i have began to see gifts that were "latent" come to full force as i grow in my faith and become more comfortable with who God has created me to be.

as a close friend has told me 'i'm finally starting to be on the inside as i am on the outside' and that is so true. this past year i have become comfortable with who i am and learning how to accept that person. i am learning to love myself and be fully put together, not just on the outside. in the past i have been very good at putting on the show that everything was 'fine' in life- my outward appearance was alway 'good'. today though i do not have to try to look the part, instead i get to live it.

and i must say i love using the amazing gifts God has given me, and i love being his precious unique daughter. most people do not actually realize that this pharmacy major who is good at math & science is actually very creative. after thinking about it i thought it was funny myself especially after knowing how each side of your brain works. your right side of the brain is the one that is your 'feeler' side or the creative one while your left side is responsible for the recognition and logic side. now most people are usually left or right side dominant, this does not mean that they do not use the other side, but they just seem to favor one or are better with the functions of one side. i on the other hand seem to do just fine using both my right and left side of my brain. i get to use my left side with all of my math and science as a pharmacy major and my right side with crafting and decorating.

somehow God has created me to be fluent in using both sides of my brain. and i believe he has done this for a purpose. i love being a pharmacy major and figuring out how drugs work in the body. i love math and science and logically solving problems. i also love to be creative and get lost in my imagination. and somehow there is a perfect balance between these two. using my right side of my brain and being creative is my way to take a 'break' from life, it is my way to de-stress and relax. God has made me perfectly so that i can shut my left side off and relax using a completely different part of my brain. it is amazing the way He makes things so they can work just right for us!

i couldn't ask for much more, or to be any different at the moment. i am content being me using both sides of my brain when necessary. being completely me well rounded with an even brain.  :)

so in the light of confessing my creativeness i figured i would add a couple of my creative projects from this week. i hope you enjoy as much as i did working on them this week in between working at the pharmacy!

this is an old sewing machine table that my mom and i found on the side of the road for free!
this is what it looks like now after i added a silver finish with aluminum foil.
using parts of the old sewing machine i used the old spindles with thread on them
where the old knobs were... they even each have a different color thread on them. super cute.

I also finished the hallway/room outside of my bathroom down stairs so here are some before and after pictures...

this is what my room looked like before... sheetrock walls,
 exposed duct work and brick, nothing pretty.

and here it is finished

there is my lovely table. i repainted and recovered the chair.
 i also painted the mirror {it was an ugly gold before}
so there is my new room. i love it. the only thing left now is to finish the flooring and put up trim. i must say though that i am very please and happy with myself for it. total i spent $20 on my room. i already had the chair, the mirror, the paint for the walls and chair and the fabric for the chair. i only had to buy spray paint for the mirror and mod podge for the table.

i worked on a couple other random crafty things but for now thats been the majority of what i spent my week doing.

  1. I have now spotted the owl by the way and know that you weren't lying when you said it was on your blog. I can't believe I didn't spot it the first time!
